BRANSTORM Partners With Classroom Central for Coolinary Kids Challenge

BRANSTORM donated its time and talents to this year’s Educate Your Palate Event on Nov. 12 at Discovery Place. To give the event new life, BRANSTORM worked with Plaid Penguin, a local creative consultancy for leading food and beverage brands, to create The Coolinary Kids Challenge that paired professional chefs with eight aspiring young cooks to bring student recipe ideas to life.

BRANSTORM named the Coolinary Kids Challenge and provided public relations, promotion, sponsorship and overall event support. The Plaid Penguin recruited culinary talent, offered creative guidance and designed marketing visuals.  BRANSTORM also recruited celeb emcees WCCB Charlotte Anchor Morgan Fogarty and Wilson’s World Host, Jon Wilson.

Fundraising goals for the event were exceeded and all proceeds benefitted Classroom Central programs.

Classroom Central equips students living in poverty to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies. Operating in six school districts and supporting over 200 schools and over 100,000 students, Classroom Central helps level the playing field for our region’s students in need.  Since its inception in 2002, Classroom Central has distributed over $45 million in school supplies.   For more information, visit http://www.classroomcentral.org.

Brannan Participates in Bizwomen Mentoring Monday

BRANSTORM President Colleen Brannan was one of 50 mentors to participate in The Charlotte Business Journal’s Second Annual Mentoring Monday on March 30.  The sold out event attracted hundreds of mentees who engaged in seven-minute coaching sessions with mentors of their choice.

Immediately following the speed mentoring portion of the program, Academic Partner and BRANSTORM client, Northeastern University-Charlotte presented a moderated panel discussion about What Mentoring Means to Successful Charlotte Business Women

A feature story about BRANSTORM client, ai Design Group, appeared in the Charlotte Observer’s ShopTalk section on Christmas Eve, both in print and online.  This centerfold spread discussed how the 11-year-old, Charlotte-based architecture and interiors firm weathered the recession and positioned themselves for a bright future in their new offices on the top floor of the Chamber building.

BRANSTORM client Dr. Cheryl Richards, CEO & Regional Dean of Northeastern University Charlotte, was the featured speaker at the October luncheon of the National Association of Women Business Owners.  Her topic, the ROI of a Graduate Degree was well received by the packed room of female entrepreneurs.

BRANSTORM Names World’s Hottest Burrito, The BurHEATo™

BRANSTORM client Puckerbutt Pepper Company recently teamed up with Salsarita’s to take the World’s Hottest Burrito (made with Smokin’ Ed’s Carolina Reaper®) nationwide after a Charlotte market test run in February.  In addition to negotiating the terms of the deal and promoting the roll out, BRANSTORM came up with the name BurHEATo™.  Read more in the Charlotte Business Journal and Charlotte Observer news coverage.
